Bitcoin broke through local resistance near $65,000, which had previously repelled price multiple times. Trader Jelle noted that the $65,000-67,000 range was resistance in Q1, but “given how we broke through it on the way down, there might not be much fight here.” If current levels hold, he expects a move to $70,000.

Trader Ted Pillows put the next key resistance at $67,500-68,000, adding that a break above $68,000 could trigger a fast 5-6% move higher.

The breakout was accompanied by short liquidations. Coinglass reported $241.69M in forced closures over 24 hours, with $182.5M from shorts–suggesting part of the move was driven by short covering.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows July 21: Five Straight Days and $727M — What It Means

The positive streak is the longest since April 30-May 5, when funds posted six consecutive inflow days. From July 13-17, spot bitcoin ETFs attracted $75.5M and posted a second straight positive week. BlackRock’s IBIT led with $204.1M, while Fidelity’s FBTC saw the largest outflow at $181.1M.

XS.com Head of Business Development Simon-Peter Massabni cautioned that recent Bitcoin (BTC) ETFs inflows may reflect easing selling pressure rather than a broad return of institutional demand. For a sustained uptrend, bitcoin needs to hold above $65,000-65,500. The five-day inflow has cut the year-to-date net outflow from US bitcoin ETFs to less than $5B.
