How the Uniswap Scheme Worked

The scammers used Google’s sponsored ads to display a fake Uniswap website above the official one. Users who clicked the link landed on a clone of the platform and connected their crypto wallets. Funds were then drained to attacker-controlled addresses.

According to the analyst, two main wallets linked to the operation contain approximately 146 Ethereum (ETH), worth about $306,000 at the time of analysis. Both addresses remain active.

At the time of publication, the leading altcoin’s price stood at approximately $2,100. Over the past 24 hours, the token has barely moved, losing just over 1%.

Stacey Moore, founder of Web3 marketing agency Green Dots, noted that Google has been ignoring such problems for years. According to her, fake links regularly appear above legitimate ones.

DeFiLlama confirmed that phishing ads on Google are a common attack method. The Security Alliance reported a significant increase in such activity in April. In March alone, they blocked more than 356 malicious ad links.

Experts recommend always verifying the URL before connecting your wallet and using official sources. Analysts also advise avoiding clicks on sponsored ads when searching for crypto services.
