Crypto ad scams have turned into a persistent operation, with more than 356 malicious Google Ads URLs removed in recent weeks, blockchain security firm says.
For years, crypto ad scams have circulated online, but now they stand out for how consistently they keep running in the background.
Blockchain security group SEAL revealed in a Tuesday blog post it blocked over 350 malicious Google Ads URLs in just recent weeks, noting the campaigns are “not slowing down.”
Same Trap, Bigger Volume
The setup hasn’t changed much. A user searches for a platform like Uniswap, clicks a sponsored result, and lands on a near-identical copy of the real site. From there, the damage happens fast.
Users are prompted to connect wallets or sign transactions, which can hand control of funds to attackers in a single step, with SEAL describing these tools as in-browser scripts “designed to trick the user into signing a malicious transaction.”

What has changed is scale as SEAL said it’s seeing a “steady volume of attacker-deployed Google Ads each week for more than a year,” with attackers rotating between brands like Uniswap and Morpho Finance to match active search demand.
Losses Keep Stacking
Confirmed losses tied to these campaigns came to over $810,000 over a short stretch in March, based on SEAL data. Including extra victim reports, the total moves up to roughly $1.27 million between March 13 and March 30.
Individual cases vary widely. Some losses are a few hundred dollars, while others exceed $200,000 from a single fake ad interaction. But the real figure is likely higher, SEAL implies, as many users never report incidents and it’s often hard to trace a loss back to a specific ad.
