According to The Information, Coinbase is in “close communication” with Anthropic. Coinbase Chief Security Officer Philip Martin noted that Mythos could significantly accelerate both threat detection and system defense.
Coinbase shares (COIN) rose more than 4% in response.

Binance is also exploring the possibility of using Mythos, though it currently relies on previous Anthropic models and its own internal developments.
Risks and Industry Reaction
Mythos has not yet been released for broad access due to the high risk of abuse. Early access to the model has already been granted to major banks and technology companies, including Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Apple, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia.
Experts warn that such AI models could dramatically reduce vulnerability discovery time—from weeks to just minutes. This is particularly dangerous for the crypto industry, where theft incidents continue to occur.
Market Reaction
Following news of Coinbase’s interest in Mythos, Piper Sandler analysts raised the company’s price target to $180 while maintaining a “Neutral” rating.
They noted that geopolitical tensions, particularly the conflict with Iran, continue to support high volatility, which traditionally increases trading volumes on exchanges.
