Reasons for Rising Optimism

The sharp rise in sentiment is tied to bitcoin’s recovery above $80K. In recent days, the leading cryptocurrency has shown strong growth amid news of potential US-Iran de-escalation and steady inflows into spot bitcoin ETFs.

Santiment noted that after several weeks of uncertainty caused by geopolitical risks and the fallout from major exploits, retail traders have once again begun expecting further gains.

What’s Wrong with Excessive Confidence

However, analysts warn that historically, a sharp rise in positive sentiment often signals increased risk.

“When fear disappears and FOMO begins to dominate social media, traders often open positions in the late stages of a rally,” Santiment noted.

Experts added that excessive crowd confidence often precedes local tops, profit-taking, and heightened volatility. In April, after the Kelp DAO hack, sentiment was predominantly bearish, which conversely created favorable conditions for the subsequent rebound.

Now that optimism has hit a multi-month high, traders are advised to watch closely for signs of overbought conditions and excessive leverage.
