Cardano’s ADA token fell harder than any other top-20 token by market capitalization as the token slid toward 2021 levels, while founder Charles Hoskinson warned of more ecosystem failures and publicly said he’s taking a break, at least for now.
Data from Bitcoin Foundation’s price tracking page shows ADA trades around $0.18, down more than 12% on the day, making Cardano the weakest performer among the top-20 tokens by market cap over the past 24 hours.
The price pressure comes as TapTools, a Cardano analytics platform used to track tokens, DeFi activity and ecosystem data, is winding down after years of operating on the network.
TapTools said the economics of running the platform had become difficult, pointing to infrastructure, development and support costs.

Charles Hoskinson, Cardano’s founder, commented on the shutdown soon after, saying in a video on his YouTube channel that the closure reflects a broader problem for the ecosystem.
“I said at the beginning of the year, we’re going to see a lot of people collapse because the markets are really bad,” Hoskinson said. “There’s going to be a wave of failures in the ecosystem.”
Cardano Price Slide Meets Ecosystem Stress
Hoskinson said Cardano still has technology and people, but projects are running into economic reality.
“There’s people, good people, but we’re losing them,” he said. “It’s not Charles Hoskinson driving them out.”
Soon after, Hoskinson pointed out that there wasn’t enough community support to advance treasury-funded projects. He insisted that he couldn’t solve the issue alone because of this lack of desire to spend treasury funds.
Following his remarks, Hoskinson took to X to announce he’s “taking a break,” though he didn’t clarify reasons or duration for it.
