In the latest round of monitoring assets listed on the platform for possible delisting, Binance has placed a Monitoring Tag on Moonbeam (GLMR), ICON (ICX), Moonriver (MOVR), SuperRare (RARE) and Sophon (SOPH), signaling extra scrutiny on the assets.

When the exchange made this announcement on Aug. 11, at the same time, it stated that it would not delist any tokens immediately. The exchange did not provide any specific reasons for the project additions. The notice was later changed to include more accurate information about the Monitoring Tag quiz.

Binance applies the classification to tokens it deems to entail elevated volatility and risk compared to its other public tokens.

Tokens are reviewed periodically and evaluated based on factors including team commitment, development activity, trading and liquidity, network security, smart-contract security, public communication, ability to respond to due-diligence requests, changes in token supply, and evidence of misconduct.

Binance stated that marking an asset with this tag may mean that the asset no longer meets the listing requirement, and may be removed from the exchange.

However, the exchange did not announce when the next assessment would take place, or what the numbers and weightings of the review criteria for the tokens would be, nor did it explain why the tokens were categorized, or how close any of them were to being delisted.

Investor response was negative; Moonriver dropped to around $0.90 on Aug. 12, having fallen about 20.7% in 24 hours, while Moonbeam fell around 12.9%. A general decrease in the value of SuperRare (approximately 8.3%) and ICON (about 5.1%) was observed in contrast to a modest increase in Sophon (0.8%).

Data from CoinGecko shows that, in the 24 hours after the announcement went live, Moonriver’s trading volume increased by more than 600% and ICON’s increased by more than 300% on the exchanges cited in the announcement. These statistics show that more trading was done on the exchanges, but do not prove that the price movements were caused by the announcement.

The review follows Moonbeam’s announcement of 1:1 migration of GLMR from the Polkadot-based Moonbeam parachain, and Moonriver’s announcement of 1:1 migration of MOVR from its Kusama chain, both to Base, by July 31. Binance did not tie the project listing to either of the two migrations.

Moonbeam (GLMR) one-year price chart showing a steep decline from above $0.08 to below $0.01 between 2025 and August 2026.

ICON, which works with SuperRare, plans to sunset its legacy blockchain, stating that the ICON Foundation will permanently shut down the old blockchain on December 31, 2026, which is also the last date to swap the token ICX for SODA. In July 2025, SuperRare lost $730,000 in a staking contract exploit.

Spot trading on Sophon launched in May 2025, corresponding to its token generation event, and Binance did not link either event with the risk classification.

All five tokens remain tradeable on the services mentioned in the announcement for now. Binance may to remove the tag if conditions improve, or may delist an asset in the case that said asset no longer meets the exchange’s minimum listing standards, after conducting periodic reviews. There is no set timeframe for another review and potential delisting.
