  1. Notice to Consolidate Unused Forums

Brad, I'd like to keep this forum open for the time being, if possible.
  2. You know, I can't even access the article at issue. It seems to 404 on me.
  3. #BTCThursday - Digital Currency Summit

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
  4. Bitcoin barred for alcohol sale under current Ohio law

Nikhil, I'm not familiar with Ohio law. Do you have any more information on this? I am particularly interested in knowing what law or regulation compels this result.
  5. Bitcoin trademark

I think that the mark's value is dubious. It is the generic name of a technology category, and the registrant of the mark is likely not the first user. I am speaking with USA blinders on, of course. I think it's worth a bit of investigation nonetheless. Patrick?
  6. Active Individual Membership involvement has dropped to 1.5%

I think you raise a good point. Your title is misleading, though, and I don't think it is fair to the many people that are hard at work on committees. You say that "active individual membership" has "dropped", yet all you refer to is the quantity of posts on a small web forum? Please, at minimum. change the title. Your post is important and informative, but the title is just click bait, and it's FUD. Are you involved in a committee? If not, would you like to be?

  8. Hello from Coinkite

Hi Rodolfo. Welcome to the Foundation.
  9. Communication from the Foundation

Not at all a solution, but definitely relevant: Follow me on twitter. You'll get Foundation regulatory updates as well as some comedy that has been described by many as both "unfunny" and "in poor form."
  10. Bitcoin Foundation Org Chart - version 1.0 Beta - March 22, 2014

I think that's a great idea. As has been announced, we are working on a new website. I think this org chart should be part of it.
  11. Communication from the Foundation

Hi Matt. I tend to agree. I've started with the man in the mirror, and begun to implement some initial steps to move toward increased transparency with the Regulatory Affairs committee. See the recent posts in our subforum.
  12. Regulatory Affairs Committee Forms Tax Working Group

If there is enough interest in canadian tax working group, I'm happy to approach the directors with it. As to the organization of the chapters, well, that's above my pay grade. I think Jinyoung posted something about it recently on the blog though.
  13. Regulatory Affairs Committee Forms Tax Working Group

Hi David. Currently, our focus is the USA. As the Foundation expands to a more globalized entity, our affiliates will address their home country's taxation issues. The global Foundation entity may also take a role.
  14. UK tax

Strong move by HMRC, I think.
  15. In an effort to provide greater transparency to the Foundation's work, I am providing an update on one of the projects the Regulatory Affairs Committee has been working on for some time. Last week marked the Regulatory Affairs committee's most recent meeting with a federal government agency. Together with the Tax Working Group, the Regulatory Affairs Committee conferenced (caucused?) with a federal agency responsible for responding to legislative requests for information. Topics included how the blockchain stores information, pseudoanonymity vs anonymity, protocol neutrality and how "change" works. They had very sophisticated questions and we should applaud them for making the inquiry. In anticipation of one criticism: yes, it's frustrating not to know precisely who we're talking about. But if we outed every government actor who wanted more information about crypto, many would not reach out in the first place. My goal is to provide as much transparency as possible without impeding the Foundation's mission. I hope this is a step in the right direction.
