We’re excited to welcome Denmark as our newest affiliate, Dansk Bitcoinfonening, based in Lyngby just north of Copenhagen, and with strong roots in Denmark’s leading technical university, DTU and a widespread national membership base. As Bitcoin continues to captivate audiences worldwide, it’s inevitable for local authorities to notice and act in regards to the evolving technology. Earlier this March, the Tax Board of Denmark declared personal profits and losses from bitcoin trades to be tax free, although businesses directly trading in bitcoin would be taxed.
“We see the outcome of bitcoin transactions as a result of something purely private. Therefore, any gains on bitcoin are tax-exempt, and losses are not deductible,” said Hanne Søgaard Hansen, Chairman of the Tax Board.
Dansk Bitcoinfonening is led by Pascal Mikkelsen as Chairman with both Martin Clemens Bloch and Carsten Keutmann serving as Board Members. The team focuses on building the bitcoin community by initiating bitcoin projects, meetups and conferences so that anyone from bitcoin newbies, journalists, investors to core developers can network, learn and contribute to Bitcoin’s adoption in Denmark.
“We believe global teamwork is essential in developing a global financial evolution. With this partnership, the Danish Bitcoin Foundation is strengthening its international connection,” said Pascal Mikkelsen, Chairman of Dansk Bitcoinforening.
Since the introduction of our International Affiliate Program at the end of last year, our network has expanded to cover six countries: Australia, Mexico, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
