Minutes of The Bitcoin Foundation Board Meeting held on June 20, 2017

Approval of the agenda

The agenda for the meeting was approved by the Board.

Approval of the minutes

The minutes of the meeting held on May 16, 2017 were approved by all present.

May 2017 financial update

March revenue includes 7 new annual memberships, of which $420 was received in USD and $382 in BTC. 


There was a 40% drop in operating expenses for the period under review. The most significant expenses were provisions of $481 for accounting fees & $2,000 for the time of the ED. 


04/30/17 Bitcoin Balance was 0.331 coins equating to $440 


05/31/17 Bitcoin Balance was 0.533 coins equating to $1,219 


May BPI high was $2,476.30 with a low of $1,402.08 


Total Cash assets including BTC and USD were $1,556 at 05/31/17 


May 2017 operational update

Llew met with Theo Chino & Pierre Ciric in New York & discussed fundraising tactics & how to raise awareness for Theo’s matter against the NYDFS. The Foundation disbursed over $8,000 raised for the legal fees of Theo Chino vs NYDFS to Pierre, the attorney in the matter. The matter is due in front of Judge Billings on August 31 again. 


The foundation is working with Blockchain Academy to create online & offline Bitcoin training programs that are endorsed by the Foundation. Michael Perklin has received the training materials and agreed to review the materials following Consensus New York. 


UX improvements and SEO for the new foundation website are in progress, including using the old forum content for SEO purposes. The marketing manager attended a one-day Bitcoin training program to increase her technical understanding of Bitcoin and blockchain technology. Acquisition & retention marketing campaigns are scheduled to kick off during June 2017. 


Llew met with representatives from Bcoin and Core at Consensus & is currently planning a protocol developer recruitment event for 50-100 developers in San Francisco during July 2017. Francis suggested that he is planning to host something very similar in Montreal & if the San Francisco developer event was a success, that his organization would be happy to look at co-branding the Montreal event with the Foundation.
